The City and Borough of Sitka's tap water took second place for it's flavor and aesthetic qualities at the annual Best of the Best water taste test during the AWWA ACE water industry national conference. The competition was held on June 14, 2022 at the American Water Works Association conference in San Antonio, Texas. This award was determined by an esteemed panel of judges.

The competition was open to AWWA utility members from within the United States and Canada. Entrants must not have incurred any U.S. or Canadian state, provincial or federal drinking water violations during the previous calendar year.
