The City and Borough of Sitka is establishing an eligibility list for future openings in our Police Department. Preference will be given to applicants who have current certification as a Police Officer. Probationary wage is $23.00/hr.

Controller
The City and Borough of Sitka seeks a Controller. Plans, organizes and directs the recording of all receipts and expenditures for the City and Borough. Develops implements and manages financial accounting systems consistent with GAAP, GASB, and GAAFR. This is a salaried position, $33.40 – $35.08/hr DOE. Wastewater Facilities Mechanic
The City and Borough of Sitka is now seeking a Wastewater Facilities Mechanic. Wage $22.61-$31.94/hr. Plans and coordinates major maintenance projects, manages the preventative maintenance program, and supervises maintenance of all equipment in the Wastewater Treatment Plant, lift stations and Water Treatment Plants; includes pumps, rotating & stationary screens, grinders, grit separators, clarifiers, belt filter presses, blowers, chlorination and related chemical treatments, control systems and high pressure vacuum cleaners; Position requirements: possession of a class B commercial driver’s license with a hazardous endorsement issued by the state of Alaska; ability to obtain a State of Alaska Wastewater Treatment Level 1 Wastewater Certification within Two (2) years of employment; ability to obtain a State of Alaska Wastewater Treatment level 1 Certification within two (2) years of employment and a level II WWT or WWC Certification within four (4) years of employment. Because this position requires a CDL, it is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing. Acceptable experience and training: graduation from high school or possession of a GED, preferably supplemented by formal training in welding, equipment maintenance and maintenance planning or supervision (journeyman millwright is advantageous); and considerable experience in water/wastewater treatment processes and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS MANAGER
$77,000 to $108,000 DOQ; Sitka’s utility is a 27MW hydroelectric, 12MW diesel generation system, 21MW peak load; 69KV transmission; distribution to pop. 9000. Four seafood freezer plants, currently designing hydro expansion and establishing long-range planning for hydro plants.

$36.77/hr. The incumbent is responsible for installing and maintaining overhead and underground electric and substations lines and performing related work as required.
